I bought my 3 series on March 17, at the time it had something like 39,900 miles on it. The dealer offered “complimentary delivery” anywhere in GA so I took advantage of that. When it arrived to me it had 40193 miles on it, today it crossed over 60k, meaning it’s done 20k miles in less than 8 months.

That’s the plan right now, unless I get a massive pay increase. Even then, I’d probably still hang on to it.

Who says you can’t rack up miles on a BMW? No one in my household.

My wife’s 2007 X3 has just over 202k and my E46 is over 164k. Both are 100% reliable and comfortable daily drivers; everything still works as intended and no, we haven’t had them in the shop every other week.

This past spring the X3 was due for brakes all around (which I did myself) and we spent about $1,500 at a local shop replacing some worn out parts - rear driveshaft (u-joint), ball joints, maybe something else. All in all it was over $2k (with the brakes) but it’s been perfect ever since, and the only sudden, unexpected repair was an electric water pump.

I drove my old E46 for two days straight a few years back and when I got home, I would have gladly hopped back in and kept going. That one I sold at just over 200k, but for reasons not related to maintenance. Mostly because I bought a nicer one and couldn’t justify keeping the old one, too.

I’m at over 92k miles on my 2013 X1 that I bought as a CPO with 30k on the clock. It’s bee a solid car so far.

Your car might have had the advantage of being just a few years older than mine. The original owner of my car only put 40k on the car in the 7.5 years they owned it.

my ZHP is about to roll over to 240k. Granted I blew the engine at 236k, but that was on the track, can’t really be angry about that...

Considering you tracked it, 236k out of an engine isn’t bad at all.

I don’t think anyone ever thought you couldn’t put a ton of miles on a German car quickly. My brother drives 25k a year and has had nothing but VWs. Since they’re gone within 5 years, not much breaks.

Now let’s talk about sensors, plastics, and rubber at the 10-, 15-, and 20-year mark! :D

Travel. I also have a 60 mile round trip commute and put about the same on my car (maybe 15k), but my wife’s car (her commuter and our weekend and trip car) gets an average on 25k per year.

Yeah, it was all under warranty as well. Still getting 36 mpg on the highway with a very smooth idle so I don’t think carbon build up is going to be an issue for me either. I only burn about half a quart of oil every 5k miles so the engine still seems to be pretty tight.

I’m not sure yet. It just happened Friday so I have to see what insurance will do for me in a situation like this because I have full coverage but I’m new to this and don’t know what exactly that gets me. I wasn’t in a collision or anything so I’m not sure if this will even be covered

Yeah she was my pride and joy. It was such a good car, had a nice amount of power to be quick and fun but not so much that it was too much to handle. Also it was so unique looking. I’m not sure I’ll like my next car nearly as much as I did the coupe

I think it’s driving only short trips that will do you in. My A4 had only 52k on it when I got it, and it was 10 years old! I started driving it a lot and had quite an unreliable time for the first couple of months. It ran awful on cold start. Then it started pretty much fixing itself just by driving. I put like 45 k miles on in 2 years. Now that I don’t drive anymore I’m scared everything’s gonna start falling apart again. I make sure to drive out of the city every now and then.
